Officials: Killer of Cecil the Lion did nothing wrong

(NEWS10) – The U.S. dentist who killed a lion while on a safari in Africa will not be prosecuted.

It turns out, he was hunting legally.

Walter Palmer, of Minnesota was vilified across the country after conservationists say he lured Cecil the Lion out of a national park and shot it with a bow in early July.

Palmer says he had to temporarily close his practice and he and his family even received death threats, but Zimbabwe officials say Palmer had the necessary paperwork for a lion hunt and did nothing illegal.
