Man turns himself in after alleged Rotterdam shooting

ROTTERDAM, N.Y. (NEWS10) — The Rotterdam Police say that they arrested Daniel Gatto, Jr. after he turned himself in to Schenectady police Saturday morning.

Gatto is charged with shooting a 49-year-old male in the area of Hamburg and Chism Streets on Thursday, October 8.

Gatto is accused of responding to Hamburg and Chism Streets where he allegedly open fired on the victim, striking him in the leg, over a disputed motorcycle purchase.

Gatto then fled the scene in a red Ford Ranger pickup which was recovered by Schenectady officers early Saturday morning.

Gatto is charged with Assault 1st degree, a class B felony, Criminal Possession of a Weapon 2nd degree, a class C felony, and Reckless Endangerment 1st degree, a class D felony.

He was arraigned and remanded to the custody of the Schenectady County Sheriff with bail set at $100,000 cash or $200,000 bond.
