Planned Parenthood protests to shed light on a controversial issue

SCHENECTADY, NY (NEWS10) – There was a lot of honking along State Street Saturday morning, drivers waving to anti-abortion supporters who stood in front of Planned Parenthood.

There were supporters of all ages, even children, holding several other signs that read “life is precious” and “abortion is not healthcare”.

“It’s basically the delivery of a live baby and then killed after birth”, said First Presbyterian Church Pastor Larry Roff.

Supporters showed me the undercover videos, of Planned Parenthood selling baby body parts for money. This video was just too graphic for us to share with you.

The people wanted to see an end to all of it and also wanted to bring the issue to light within the community.

“I grew up in the atmosphere that if you are pregnant, you kept the baby. There was no option and many of us are alive because of that option”, said protester Gail Flannery.

So I gave Planned Parenthood a call to see what they had to say about these videos.

This was their response in a statement:

“The videos that were released by anti-abortion extremists over the past two months have been so heavily edited that experts have analyzed them and publicly reported that they distort the truth and are not reliable”, said Kim Atkins, who is President and CEO of Planned Parenthood of Mohawk Hudson.

As for others, they said they disagree and are calling the organization “cruel”.

“To us, it’s clearly a matter of profit, greed, of personal advancement financially”, said Larry Roff.

Planned Parenthood said no matter what, they will continue to provide care for anyone who needs their services.
