TROY, NY (NEWS10) – Did you know one in one hundred children are born with a congenital heart defect?
Well in Troy there is a general outreach program for them it’s called cardiac kids. On Saturday a program was held at the children’s museum of science and technology.
Events like this help parents get to see kids with heart problems thriving and it gives them hope. Saturday, they experienced really cool bubble-ology classes and getting a walk around the museum. A princess was also crowned, 6-year-old Liliana Clem. She was introduced as heart princess of the capital region heart walk.
“Today is an event for all children in the capital region who were born with congenital heart defects. And a few times a year we get together to get to know one another, to provide support and just to celebrate the healthy children we have”, said Leah Clem, the mother of the heart princess Liliana Clem.
Now that heart walk will take place in June and you will be able to see her there. It is organized by the American Heart Association and the American Stroke Association as was today’s event in hopes of raising money and awareness.
