JOHNSTOWN, N.Y. (NEWS10) – National Grid will be presenting the Gloversville-Johnstown joint wastewater treatment facility with a grant that will help the company expand on a recent $7.2 million upgrade.
The upgrade has tripled the company’s capacity to treat wastewater and made it more environmentally friendly, all made possible by the massive growth of the fage yogurt plant nearby.
The upgrade has allowed the plant to triple its capacity to treat wastewater to up to a million gallons a day, while generating energy. They received a grant from National Grid Thursday for all the work. The upgrade also helped create a new training program in partnership.
