ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) – A Troy man who’s not a stranger to the public or law enforcement was arrested for allegedly crashing a drone into the State Capitol last month.
Police say on September 17, 36-year-old Adam Rupeka of Troy operated a radio controlled aerial drone in the city of Albany. The drone crashed into a chimney of the New York State Capitol Building, coming to rest on the roof.
On October 1, 2015, Albany City Court Judge Rachel Kretser issued a Criminal Summons, ordering Rupeka to appear at the City of Albany Criminal Court on October 7 to be arraigned on charges of Reckless Endangerment in the 2nd Degree and Reckless Endangerment of Property for the reckless operation of his drone.
Rupeka appeared in court this morning and was arraigned on the charges in the presence of his attorney. He was released under supervision of the Albany County Probation Department and ordered to report to the State Police barracks on the Empire State Plaza concourse for arrest processing.
Rupeka will reappear in the Albany City Court on a later date.
