GLOVERSVILLE, N.Y. (NEWS10) – Police in Gloversville made a drug arrest involving bath salts after responding to a fight.
A little after 7:10 p.m. Monday, police were called to Fourth Avenue for a fight in progress. Upon arrival, the fight had ended, and a subject had fled the scene, according to police.
An investigation revealed the subject had an argument with a female over a missing cell phone. It became physical when the subject allegedly struck the female and a second juvenile, female victim.
Police said the subject also intentionally broke the porch railing.
Police said when they tried to arrest 16-year-old Levoster Chandler, Jr., he started fighting with officers. They placed Chandler into custody without injury, but as he was being escorted to a police car, he allegedly pulled away from the officers and ran away.
Police were able to apprehend Chandler again, and they subsequently found 11.9 grams of bath salts in his possession.
Chandler was charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Third Degree, Criminal Mischief in the Third Degree, two counts of Endanger the Welfare of a Child, two counts of Attempted Assault in the Third Degree, Criminal Mischief in the Fourth Degree, Resisting Arrest and Escape in the Third Degree.
