MENANDS, N.Y. (NEWS10) – A tribute to one of New York’s former presidents is happening in Menands on Monday.
There will be a wreath laying ceremony to honor the birthday of Chester Arthur, the 21st president of the United States. Arthur’s grave is in the Albany Rural Cemetery.
Military representatives will lay a wreath and conduct a service there at 11 a.m. Monday morning.
President Arthur was born in Vermont, and graduated from Union College. Arthur was elected vice president in 1881, and became president later that year, when President James Garfield died.
