SCHENECTADY, N.Y. (NEWS10) – A Schenectady man is facing life behind bars when he’s sentenced for the shooting death of his girlfriend last year in front of their infant son.
Authorities say 47-year-old Jamell Modest pleaded guilty to shooting 30-year-old Markia Booth inside a car on State Street in December 2014. Their 8-month-old child was in the back seat when it happened.
Modest originally plead not guilty, but changed his plea in august. He’ll be ordered to serve 23 years to life in prison when he’s sentenced on Monday.
