ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) – From Albany to Boston a father and daughter are biking in celebration of the 20th anniversary of Harold’s heart transplant.
Community members joined Sara Strope and her father, Harold, Thursday morning to send them off on their journey to Boston. The father-daughter duo departed from Delmar for a 200-mile bike trip to celebrate the anniversary.
They are biking to Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, where he received the transplant in 1995. Strope said the bike ride not only means a lot for her and her father but for other families dealing with heart disease.
A retired librarian from Sara’s former high school, Albany Academy for Girls will be joining them for the first day of the trip. She was Sara’s advisor during her senior year when the transplant occurred, and they have stayed in touch for all this time.
