ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) — Federal funding for 9/11 first responders and survivors is set to run out at midnight if the government doesn’t act.
This blatant indiscretion would leave approximately 33,000 people with illnesses related to the attacks without aid.
Senator Kirsten Gillibrand took to the Senate floor Tuesday, September 29 urging congress to pass a permanent extension of the programs.
Gillibrand says since the fourteenth anniversary of the attacks just over two weeks ago, six first responders have died.
That is in addition to more than 1,700 people who have passed from 9/11 related illnesses.
