ROME (NEWS10) – A Vatican spokesman isn’t denying that the meeting took place, but he has no other comment on it.

In an interview Tuesday on Good Morning America, Rowan County Clerk Kim Davis said they hugged during the meeting last Thursday and the Pope thanked her for her courage.

Davis spent five days in jail earlier in September for defying a federal court order to issue marriage licenses to same-sex couples.
