NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) – A mother was arrested in east Nashville Monday morning during a traffic stop after Metro police found drugs in her child’s bag of animal crackers.
According to an affidavit, an officer saw Cynthia Rodriguez staggering in an alley off Douglas Avenue while he was conducting a traffic stop.
She got in a van, driven by someone else, and as they left the alley, the officer saw a child standing in a seat, the affidavit stated.
Other officers pulled them over at Joseph Avenue for reportedly not stopping at a stop sign and saw the child sitting in Rodriguez’s lap eating animal crackers.
They noticed pills in the child’s baggie and during a search found three full Xanax tablets and two half-tablets inside.
Rodriguez, 24, was reportedly rambling about being a ‘super mom’ who was taking her child to the hospital, however, the report states she couldn’t provide her child’s name.
Rodriguez was charged with child endangerment, drug possession and unlawful use of drug paraphernalia.
Her bond was set at $8,000
