NEW YORK, N.Y. (NEWS10) – We’re just hours away from Pope Francis making his first appearance in the United States. He’s scheduled to arrive in Washington D.C. Tuesday afternoon.

First, Pope Francis will finish his visit to Cuba, where he’s brought a message of tolerance and accepting change in our lives. Hundreds of thousands have been drawn to the pope in the communist country, even Athiest President Raul Castro has attended his masses.

Meanwhile, here in the U.S., law enforcement agencies are getting ready for the largest security operation in our nation’s history. Thousands of agents and local officers were deployed in Washington, New York, and Philadelphia.

Pope Francis lands in D.C. at 4 p.m. Tuesday and NEWS10ABC is dedicated to bringing you complete coverage of the pope’s visit to New York City.

Anchors Lydia Kulbida and Christina Arangio will have live reports starting Thursday morning and wrap up Friday night.
