UPDATE: The Schenectady Police Department has made an arrest in connection with Monday’s stabbing on McClellan St.
Detectives has charged 27-year-old Thdaniel J. Leach of Schenectady One count of Attempted Murder, a felony, One count of Assault 1st, a felony, One count of Criminal Possession of a Weapon 3rd, a felony, One count of Criminal Possession of a Weapon 4th, a misdemeanor, One count of Criminal Possession of Stolen Property, a misdemeanor.
Leach is currently being held in the city lockup and will be arraigned sometime Tuesday morning.
The identity of the victim is still not being released. The victim remains in stable condition.
SCHENECTADY, N.Y. (NEWS10) – The Schenectady Police Department is currently investigating a stabbing that occurred on McClellan St near Becker St. on Monday night.
A sergeant was flagged down by a witness who reported an assault taking place down the street. They observed the male suspect, who is not being identified at this time, and who was armed with a baseball bat, in close proximity to a female victim.
The male was taken into custody without incident.
The preliminary investigation has revealed that the male struck the female with the baseball bat and then stabbed her multiple times. The victim was treated on scene by members of the Schenectady Fire Department and she was transported to Ellis Hospital. Her injuries are not considered life threatening.
The suspect is currently being interviewed by detectives and charges are expected to be filed.
The victim and the suspect know each other but are not engaged in a domestic relationship. The reason behind the attack has not yet been determined.
