Dennis….. Domestic Shorthair
He was found as a stray outside the home of one of our foster homes. He was shy and wouldn’t come to them until they shook the food bowl and he came running. He was almost 5lbs underweight when he was found. His eyes were not bright and you could tell he was just not feeling well and not in good health. It took close to 4 months to get him up to weight.
Dennis literally gets along with everyone and everything. He doesn’t bother with other cats, and doesn’t really bother with dogs either. He would probably prefer a home with slightly older children over toddler age. Dennis would be perfect for seniors or retirees. But would fit into any home.
Dennis is also “special needs” in the fact that he is a diabetic. He does take insulin shots twice a day and is VERY VERY GOOD about it. It takes just seconds and it was like it he doesn’t even know it happened. Because of his diabetes, we have to watch is diet. He is on a very specific diet of one 5 oz cat of Pate’ Canned Cat food ONLY with a teaspoon of Organic Non-Refined Coconut Oil mixed into the canned food twice a day and as close to 12 hours apart as possible. Right now his schedule is between 8:30- 9:30 in the morning and again between 8:30 – 9:30 at night.
He gets his insulin shot within 10-15 min’s after he eats.
