Police conducting death investigation in Niskayuna

NISKAYUNA, N.Y. (NEWS10) – Police are investigating an unattended death on Union Street in Niskayuna.

Police are on the scene at 1917 Union St. Officials are calling it an unattended death.

According to police, they were called to the home Monday morning to conduct a health and welfare check. Upon arrival, they found a deceased 45-year-old male.

As the night progressed, the team of investigators and detectives grew.

A forensics team dressed in biohazard suits could be seen taking pictures and video of the house on the inside and outside. They appeared to be collecting evidence.

A uniformed officer stood guard of the entrances to the home and was seen logging who was going in and out of the house.

Several neighbors have stopped by to ask what is going on and try to piece together what happened.

“The police have not contacted us at all, so I’ve just seen a lot of activity going on in front of my house,” neighbor Jene Luciani said. “The police did tell my next door neighbor that we weren’t in any danger, so that does put my mind at ease.”

The house remained surrounded by crime scene tape Monday night.

Police said there is no information to indicate any danger to area residents. An autopsy is scheduled for Tuesday.

Highland Park Drive is closed to traffic in the immediate block of the house from Union Street to Millington Road.
