ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) — The prison break of Richard Matt and David Sweat back in June is being put in perspective of dollars and cents, now that the early numbers for state overtime costs have been released.

Through June and July, overtime payments were up $22 million dollars over last year.

State Comptroller Thomas Dinapoli says that only includes “a small portion” of total overtime costs paid to officers during the search for those two escaped prisoners.
