Update: Head on crash in Kinderhook kills elderly woman; 2 others severely injured

KINDERHOOK, NY (NEWS10) – New York State Police are investigating a head-on, two car fatal accident that occurred early Sunday afternoon around 3:00 P.M. The accident happened on State Route 9 in the town of Stuyvesant.

85-year-old Harriet M. Simpkins of Kinderhook was south bound on State Route 9 when she veered into the north bound lane and struck head on a vehicle driven by 28-year-old Rahmal Spann of Hudson NY.

Simpkins was transported to Columbia Memorial Hospital and pronounced dead. The driver Rahmal Spann , a 14-year-old male, 9-year-old male and 5-year-old male were transported to Albany Medical Center.

The 14-year-old male suffered minor injuries and the 9-year-old male suffered severe arm and leg injuries.Both the 5-year-old and 9-year-old are being admitted to Albany Med.
