ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) — An area surrounding the abandoned building on Spencer Street and Broadway in downtown Albany is blocked off Sunday morning after a large fire destroyed a 115-year-old warehouse Saturday morning.The building is set to be demolished Sunday afternoon.
The fire happened just after 7:00 a.m. yesterday. When firefighters got there, they say they saw flames through the roof and on the building’s second floor prompting them to call for aide.
Deputy Chief Ej Seney of the Albany Fire Department says, “We had pretty much the entire city, we called in our partners from Troy and Watervliet to assist us.”
According Seney, the fire was knocked out in about an hour.
He says the it remains under investigation that no one was hurt.
