WATCH: Harold Ortiz wants the public to hear him out

SCHENECTADY, N.Y. (NEWS10) – On Tuesday, the man who allegedly hit a man in the head with a shovel and tried to bury him under debris looked straight at our camera and told us he wanted an exclusive interview.

Harold Ortiz, 44, says he didn’t do it, but authorities are moving forward with their case; charging him with attempted murder and unlawful imprisonment.

According to the State Department of Corrections and Community Supervision Ortiz has spent the last 17 years in prison. A source close to the investigation says he was treated for mental illness there.

He was only released about two months ago and authorities say he only moved into the apartment on Union Street two weeks ago. In this video he breaks his silence.

I would like an interview to tell you the truth of what transpired. I got nothin’ to hide. Come see me at Schenectady Correctional,” he said.
