Cohoes K9 retiring after 10 long years

COHOES, N.Y. (NEWS10) – A long time member of the Cohoes Police force will be retiring Wednesday.

K9 Officer Jeter served with the department for 10 years.

Starting at 10 a.m. Wednesday morning, fellow officers and city lawmakers will gather for one final salute. Officer Jeter will go home with his handler, Officer Sean McKown who’s taken care of him since he was 8-weeks-old.

The valuable K9 will be replaced by his son, Loky, a 2-year-old Belgian Malinois.
