NASSAU, NY (NEWS10) – Police have identified two of the victims involved in the Nassau accident that occurred Saturday afternoon.
According to the New York State Police, the driver of a Toyota pickup truck was headed eastbound on Route 20 at the time of the accident. She has been identified as 55-year-old MaryEllen LaPlante.
LaPlante is listed in stable condition in the intensive care unit at Albany Medical.
The driver of the Hyundai Sante Fe was 43-year-old Amy Robichaudmeyer, according to police. Robichaudmeyer sustained injuries to her lower legs, but is also in stable condition.
Police say children were involved in the accident. They could not reveal which occupant the children were riding with at the time of the incident.
Four people were sent to Albany Medical by ambulance and three of the victims required advanced life support by paramedics.
No details at this time of how the accident happened but according to Nassau Fire Chief Rob Valenty, both vehicles suffered heavy front end damage after crashing head on.
