Free haircuts given to students from pre-k through 12th grade

ALBANY, NY (NEWS10) – The Capital District Chapter of the National Pan-Hellenic Council, Inc. in conjunction with Brick’s Barber Shop, Jay Allen Barber Studio, Jade’s Hair Envy, United Teachers and Capital District Chamber of Commerce sponsored “Community Cuts & Styles” on Sunday.

Multiple barber shops from the Albany area got involved to lend a hand.

Not only did students get a free haircut but they also received a free book, school supplies, and refreshments.

The Community Cuts & Styles is a program designed to provide free haircuts and hairstyles to students within the Greater Capital District Region prior to the start of the school year. Since the start of the program more than 700 students have been served.

Boys were accepted on a first come first serve basis and girls had to make an appointment.

The National Pan-Hellenic Council Incorporated (NPHC) is composed of nine International Greek letter Sororities and Fraternities.
