ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) – With the temperatures lately you’d never know that summer is winding to a close, but alas, it is.
Some kids have already started school and most will board the buses next week, which is why it’s so important to get your little bundles of joy back on a proper sleep schedule.
No more staying out ’til the sun goes down, no more late nights in front of the TV, iPad or cell phone.
Pediatrician Dr. Tricia Pelnik-Fecko reminds us how important it is to maintain a scheduled bedtime to ensure our kids are getting the right amount of sleep per night.
“All this erratic sleep causes mood swings, irritability, difficulty concentrating at school, difficulty focusing. Everything comes apart,” said Dr. Tricia Pelnik-Fecko.
We all know it’s difficult, but Dr. Pelnik warns not to overschedule because kids can only be involved in so much.
Homework has increased, sports and extra-curricular activities have increased, and parents are working more. This is all the more reason to go the extra mile to maintain a consistent bedtime.
