ROANOKE, V.A. (NEWS10) – The photographer who was gunned down on live television last week along with his reporter will be laid to rest.
A funeral is planned for Adam Ward in Roanoke Virginia. On Monday night friends and family gathered to celebrate his life.
Those who came to the memorial service were asked to wear the colors of his favorite teams: Virginia Tech and Salem High School, where he won two state championships in high school. Ward’s father was there to hug those who came out in honor of his son, as those who knew Adam shared their memories of him.
“Adam was what everyone has been saying. He loved life, he was truly kind to people, he smiled all the time. He wore shorts everyday no matter how cold it was. His dad told him he was a knucklehead but did it anyways. He was fun and he was genuine,” said Scott Habeeb, Salem High School Principal.
Ward was killed along with reporter Allison Parker. A private funeral was held for her Monday night.
The shooter, Vester Lee Flanagan turned the gun on himself as police were pursuing him following the incident.
