SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. (NEWS10) – The Saratoga Casino and Raceway’s hotel expansion is now as tall as it’s going to get.
A topping off ceremony was held on Tuesday to mark the project’s progress.
The peak height was reached with the final piece of steel attached to the top. And, as tradition, a Douglas fir and American flag were also hoisted up.
Since breaking ground in May, officials said the expansion has generated more than $100,000 in sales tax revenue. The site’s been brought up to grade, concrete foundations have been poured, and about 650 tons of steel are now in place.
Owners and executives said they are pleased with how the hotel is shaping up. The expansion is set to open Memorial Day 2016.
According to the latest plans, the hotel will have 117 rooms, including 9 suites. It’s also set to have an indoor pool, fitness center, bar, and a restaurant for fine dining.
