COLONIE, N.Y. (NEWS10) – Just a week after a hair stylist was fatally stabbed, police are returning to the scene hoping to find people with information.
Officials say 32-year-old Jacquelyn Porreca was stabbed last Friday as she worked alone at Recycled Salon on Sand Creek Road in Colonie. She died two days later.
Police are trying to find out who killed her but have struggled for leads. Earlier this week, they distributed flyers to motorists driving on the road. They did so again between 3 p.m. and 4 p.m. on Friday in the hopes of catching a motorist who regularly drives that route on Fridays who might have seen something.
“We are looking at a variety of different angles,” Colonie Police Lt. Bob Winn said. “We have accounted for her day up to approximately seven minutes prior to the attack where she had the last customer leave at about 3:32 in the afternoon. The call comes in at 3:39.”
Police say it’s unclear if Porreca was targeted, but they are urging anyone who may have been in the area last Friday between 3:30 p.m. and 4 p.m. and seen anything to contact the department.
