FDA approves drug to rid “bad” cholesterol

ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) – The FDA approved a new cholesterol-lowering drug on Thursday.

It’s called ‘Repatha’ and is an injectable drug from Amgen. It works by making the liver more efficient at getting rid of “bad” cholesterol.

High levels of cholesterol in the blood have been linked to heart disease.

According to Amgen, Repatha will be available next week.
