Colonie dispatcher accused of assaulting wife’s elderly parents

RENSSELAER, N.Y. (NEWS10) – An elderly woman is in the hospital after allegedly being attacked by her son-in-law.

Police responded just before 7 p.m. Friday to McNaughton Avenue in Rensselaer for a domestic dispute. According to police, a Colonie dispatcher was living at a McNaughton Avenue home with his wife and his wife’s parents.

His wife explained that her parents asked them to move out. That’s when she said her husband attacked her parents, and he allegedly threw her 74-year-old mother to the ground. Her 78-year-old father was left with cuts and bruises.

A broken railing was part of the aftermath of the rage.

The wife said her husband has been a Colonie dispatcher for 11 years. Colonie police identified the dispatcher as Kristopher Winne.

Police said both the 74-year-old mother and Winne were taken to the hospital. Police said Winne had an elevated heart rate.

Colonie Police Lt. Bob Winn said Winne has been suspended with pay while the investigation is ongoing.

Rensselaer police said Winne will likely face assault charges. The elderly couple is expected to be okay.
