TROY, N.Y. (NEWS10) – Police spent the night monitoring the neighborhood near Glen and 7th Avenues, the location of a makeshift memorial for Thaddeus Faison. The scene is quiet this morning.
Friends and family of Faison originally set up the memorial at the scene of the shooting that left him dead and two Troy Police officers wounded.
But police said it was blocking the sidewalk, and the memorial was moved in front of a vacant home near 7th and Glen. But the owner of the property did not want it there.
This angered the family and a crowd gathered. When police arrived, they found an AK-47 just a few blocks from 7th Avenue, and that led to a heavier police presence.
Police are still on the scene Wednesday morning, and say that they’re okay with the memorial as long as property owners are okay with it.
