Local firefighters sent to battle West Coast blaze

SARATOGA, N.Y. (NEWS10) — Governor Andrew Cuomo announced Wednesday the safe return of a 20-member crew of forest rangers, employees and volunteers from the Department of Environmental Conservation.

Members of the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation have been battling the 25,324 acre blaze near Milo, Oregon for the past two weeks.

The governor dispatched an additional 20-member crew Tuesday, August 25 comprised of eight forest rangers, six employees and six volunteers from the DEC’s Saratoga Springs division to assist in containing the West Coast fires.
