Schenectady Co. SPCA investigating after photo circulates social media

ROTTERDAM, N.Y. (NEWS10) – A picture of a dog seemingly being kept at an abandoned restaurant in Rotterdam has been shared all over Facebook.

The picture has upset many Capital Region residents, and the Schenectady County SPCA is investigating.

The SPCA wants people to know that there are some right and wrong ways to get involved.

The group posted the following on its Facebook page:

“We are aware of the situation on going in rotterdam. Officers are starting the process of the investigation of this matter. Please understand that things do not happen in an instant and procedures and laws have to be followed. ( need to have all our ducks in a row).

The Schenectady SPCA asks that no one interfere with the site as it could contaminate the scene (opening doors,windows, trying to feed the dog ,etc) we ensure you we will do everything in our powers to help this dog.
