Schenectady PD investigate two separate hit-and-run incidents

SCHENECTADY, N.Y. (NEWS10) – Two people were struck by a vehicle in two separate incidents on State Street Friday night.

According to Schenectady Police Sgt. Matthew Dearing, The first incident occurred near the Imperial Motel at 927 State St. The second occurred at the intersection of State Street and Waldorf Place.

One of the victim’s shopping carts full of belongings was found toppled over on the road near the Imperial Motel. Police say it is too early to tell if the person was trying to cross the street at the time.

Police say the driver struck another man on State Street near Waldorf Place and he’s still on the run. His white Econoline van was found abandoned at the dead end of Waldorf Place.

Police said witnesses described the suspect as a white male. Neighbors told police the suspect fled on foot; possibly into the nearby cemetery.

Both victims are male. They were taken to Albany Medical Center in serious condition.
