ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) – Firefighters are celebrating their partnership with the Muscular Dystrophy Association by kicking off their annual “Fill the Boot’ campaign.
The fundraising campaign is to benefit children and adults affected by the muscle disease throughout the Albany area. Mayor Kathy Sheehan announced her support for the fire department in front of the Albany Arbor Hill Fire Station Friday.
“I think that the boots really are effective, and last year, they raised over $16,000,” she said. “They’re looking to top that this year. It’s a great opportunity to give to a great cause, and it’s wonderful to see our firefighters giving back.”
More than 50 members of the Albany Fire Department will fan out across the city with boots in hand for this year’s drive beginning Monday.
You can check the Albany Muscular Dystrophy Association’s Facebook page to see which intersections firefighters will have their boots at each day.
They will be out next Monday, Tuesday and Thursday across the city.
