JOHNSTOWN, N.Y. (NEWS10) – Two of Fulton County’s newest K9 officers were sworn in on Wednesday.
The police dogs join the sheriff’s department as other police K9s get older in order to make sure the next line of defense is always ready.
The two K9s sworn in on Wednesday are TJ and Obi.
Deputy Justin Loomis said the new officers will be trained just like any other officer.
“Basically, it’s just gonna be getting him oriented,” he said. “Get him through training, get him used to being in the car, being out on the street, and then he’ll take off from there.”
Loomis said they got the money to buy the dogs through fundraising, and they’re grateful to the community for helping them get the new dogs.
