ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) – There’s still a few more weeks before students start the new school year, but on Wednesday the state education department released the results of how students did on their Common Core tests in April.
The results show Grades three through eight scores in English and Math and state students have made incremental progress since 2013.
But math is where the real progress was made. Scores increased by seven points since 2013.
Kids scored an average of 38.1 this year as opposed to 31.1 in 2013.
According to state data, 20 percent of eligible test takers did not participate in the tests.
