Bicyclist dies after being hit by truck in Kingsbury

KINGSBURY, N.Y. (NEWS10) – Police say they are investigating a fatal bike vs. truck accident in Washington County.

State Police in Granville say the accident happened on Route 4 in the Town of Kingsbury Tuesday night.

Apparently, at approximately 12:45 a.m. police received a call of a truck, bicycle accident with serious injuries. Investigation revealed that 47-year-old Timothy Weils of Glens Falls was riding his bicycle Northbound in the Southbound lane of Route 4 when he was struck by a Ryder rental truck travelling south in the proper lane.

Weils was apparently struck by the mirror of the truck and thrown to the pavement. He was pronounced dead at the scene by the county coroner.

The investigation is ongoing and no charges have been filed at this time. Anyone with information or who may have witnessed the accident is asked to contact the NY State Police in Greenwich or Granville at 518-692-3015 or 518-642-9455.
