Vermont flags at half-staff to honor slain DCF worker

MONTEPELIER, VT (NEWS 10) – Flags in will be flying at half-staff starting Monday to honor the social worker shot and killed outside her office on Friday.

Police say 40-year-old Jody Herring shot and killed Lara Sobel, they say it appears to be the result of an alleged custody dispute.

Police say that before shooting Sobel, herring shot and killed two of her cousins and her aunt.

Herring is due in court for arraignment Monday.

Last night, hundreds gathered for a vigil in Berlin to march from Labor Hall to Barre City Place, where the shooting happened.
