Vermont Attorney General William Sorrell says the woman charged with killing a state social worker is scheduled to be arraigned at 1 p.m. Monday in Barre, not far from where the shooting happened.

Sorrell said attorneys for 40-year-old Jody Herring filed a motion Sunday asking that she appear in court in Burlington.

But Sorrell asked that it be held in Barre, not far from where police say Herring shot and killed Department for Children and Families social worker Lara Sobel on Friday as the woman left work.

Police say Herring was upset at losing custody of her 9-year-old daughter.

Police also believe Herring shot and killed three relatives before shooting Sobel. It’s unclear if she will be charged in those cases.
