FERGUSON, MO (NEWS 10) – More protests are planned for Monday after a chaotic night.

A black teenager shot by police after they say he opened fire on officers.

The violence and looting followed a weekend of peaceful protests and marches commemorating the first anniversary of the shooting death of 18-year-old Michael Brown by police officer, Darren Wilson.

Police say the 18-year-old shot last night, Tyler Harris, was not a part of the protests but was in this crowd when gunshots rang out around 11: 15 last night between two rival groups.

Investigators claim that Harris ran and started shooting at a police SUV with four detectives inside.

Authorities say as the detectives got out of the vehicle, Harris continued shooting at them with a stolen 9 mm semi-automatic weapon and all four detectives fired back.

Harris is hospitalized and listed in critical condition.

Meanwhile three police officers are recovering today after officials say two were pepper sprayed by protestors and one was hit in the face by a rock.
