Local church treasurer arrested for Grand Larceny

HUDSON FALLS, N.Y. (NEWS10) – The treasurer of a local church is accused of stealing more than $10,000 from the congregation.

According to police, the money was taken over the course of several years from the Zion Episcopal Church in Hudson Falls.

Thomas Thompson, 59, of Moreau, made unauthorized withdrawals from ATMs and electronic transfers to pay his personal bills, according to police.

The pastor of the church declined to comment. Thompson was charged with Grand Larceny in the Third Degree.

He was arraigned in Hudson Falls Village Court and released on his own recognizance. He is due back in court at a later date.
