ROTTERDAM, N.Y. (NEWS10) – It’s a very exciting time for the Rotterdam and Carman little league.
The team officially formed just last year and they’re already starting major construction on a new concession stand! It all started as an idea, and now it’s becoming a reality.
The RC little league players, their coaches and parents combined their fundraising efforts by spreading the word around town. With grant money from Assemblyman Angelo Santabarbara, their mission finally came into fruition.
“This is what’s going to build stronger neighborhoods, it’s going to build stronger communities and it’s going to build a stronger state,” said Santabarbara, 111th District Assemblyman.
Joe Pierce, Vice President of the RC little league says even though they already have a concession stand, the small size and lack of space has always been a problem. But with this new one, that’s all going to change.
“It also gives parents the opportunity to see all the fiends and their children playing, something that’s a little a bit of a gripe from parents,” said Pierce.
“This is going to provide some restroom facilities that are not available in this park right now. It’s going to provide some much needed storage space, and over the year, the park has been improved,” said Santabarbara.
Pierce says they hope to have this new stand completed at the end of baseball season. It’s a big project the team can be thrilled about as they head onto their championship competitions.
Construction will begin in a couple of weeks, a project that’s only not good for the team but the community.
