SCHOHARIE, N.Y. (NEWS10) – A section of the 124-mile line is now being redrawn to protect a private forest with fragile wetlands.
The pipeline will run from Pennsylvania right into Schoharie County, carrying natural gas for New York City and New England. The area being redrawn is in the town of Hapersfield – which is right on the Delaware/Schoharie County line.
The change adds almost three miles to the route. There has been plenty of environmental opposition to the line, which has federal approval but is waiting on a state water quality permit.
Construction is set to start in September.
