Jockey takes tumble at Saratoga Race Course

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. (NEWS10) — A jockey took a fall during the first race at Wednesday’s meet.

Officials say it happened during the second lap of the steeple chase during the Allowance Race. It is believed that it was horse #9 that took the spill. The horse then got up and continued running while the jockey got up and got off the track.

EMT crews then met up with the jockey, who’s being identified as Paddy Young, to make sure he was okay. Authorities say an outrider horse rangled up the the other horse Cul Baire, resulting in a tumble at the final fence.

Crews say both are expected to be okay.
