MALTA, N.Y. (NEWS10) — Charles Wilkinson was sentenced to 15 years in Wednesday after he admitted to intentionally causing the death of his wife, Kathleen Wilkinson in Malta last June.
Wilkinson said he was under the influence of “extreme emotional disturbance.” Wilkinson admitted he strangled his wife in their kitchen, and left her body in their bedroom for at least three days.
Police were called to the residence for a welfare check when they discovered Kathleen’s body.
“This case really summarizes and is best described as a family tragedy all the way around,” Saratoga County District Attorney Karen Heggen said. “The Wilkinsons’ two children have been very active and in contact with my office throughout the course of this proceeding.”
The children were not in the courtroom at sentencing.
