TROY, N.Y. (NEWS10) – First responders with the Troy Fire Department received an upgrade to their equipment on Monday.
They welcomed two new ambulances that replaced older models.
One of the new ambulances will be stationed at Troy’s fire department headquarter’s on 6th Avenue. The second will be stationed at Station 1 on the corner of 115th Street and 5th Avenue in Lansingburgh.
Troy Mayor Lou Rosamilia said it’s all about dependability.
“We got to make sure the equipment passes inspection,” he said. “Some of the older models have trouble passing inspection and break down, so we have to make sure they are reliable so the people or families can be served properly.”
The Troy Fire Department said it responds to 9,000 calls each year, and 6,000 of those calls are ambulance related.
