ARGYLE, N.Y. (NEWS10) – The Washington County Sheriff’s Office arrested a man for allegedly using his cell phone to record a teenager.
Michal Zlatohlavy, 21, of Slovakia, was arrested and charged with Unlawful Surveillance in the Second Degree and Endangering the Welfare of a Child.
Zlatohlavy is accused of using a cell phone to take a video of a 13-year-old female as she was taking a shower. Police said he was not familiar with the female.
Washington County District Attorney Tony Jordan said the incident occurred Saturday afternoon at Camp Chingachgook, a camp run by the YMCA. He said a 13-year-old girl was taking a shower at the camp when she noticed something strange.
Jordan said she saw Zlatohlavy videotaping her. She screamed which alerted a camp counselor who reported the incident to camp management. Management then called the sheriff’s office.
Zlatohlavy was working in the maintenance department on a work visa, according to Jordan.
“You know, I think as much as you as a parent never want to see something like this happen or have something like this happen,” Jordan said. “The camp seems to have done everything they could to address it, address it quickly, and then certainly working with the sheriff’s department.”
Zlatohlavy was arraigned in the Town of Argyle Court and remanded to the Washington County Jail in lieu of $10,000 cash bail or $20,000 bond.
He is scheduled to reappear on July 28.
Additional charges are possible.
