North Adams man rescued after 40 ft. fall in Savoy

SAVOY, Mass. (NEWS10) – A North Adams man was rescued on Sunday after falling approximately 40 feet.

Around 5:50 p.m. Sunday, the Savoy Volunteer Fire Department was sent to Tannery Falls for a report of a man who fell at the falls.

The 26-year-old North Adams man was unconscious after the fall. The fire department requested mutual aid from several surrounding agencies.

A medical helicopter was requested but unable to respond due to weather related issues.

Members of the fire department and Adams Ambulance Services walked one-quarter of a mile to the falls and stabilized the patient who was extricated using stokes basket and ropes.

He was taken to Berkshire Medical Center South by ambulance.
