NISKAYUNA, N.Y. (NEWS10) – One man is under arrest after police were called to a burglary in Niskayuna.
Just before 2 p.m. Tuesday, the Niskayuna Police Department was called to Ravine Road for a report of a burglary in progress. When officers arrived on scene, they found the suspect, 30-year-old Mohammed Selim, in a physical altercation with the resident.
Police said the victim was upstairs in the home when his dog began barking. When the victim went to the main floor, he watched Selim enter the home through a window.
Selim attempted to flee on foot, but a physical altercation began between Selim and the victim.
A passerby called 911 and remained on scene to assist the victim with detaining Selim until police arrived.
Selim was charged with one count of Burglary in the Second Degree, Criminal Mischief in the Third Degree and Possession of Burglar Tools.
He was arraigned in the Niskayuna Town Justice Court and remanded to the Schenectady County Jail without bail.
